Celebrating peace together in Brunssum
In conformity with the UNESCO theme "Culture of Peace", the same theme is also used by the "Parade Brunssum 2000". UNESCO has proclaimed this year as "International Year for a Culture of Peace and Non-violence", thus aiming at worldwide support for peace, solidarity and tolerance. Unfortunately, peace worldwide remains an ever actual theme.
Every day newspapers and newscasts make us face war and troubles all over the world. But also in our own surroundings tolerance and respect for each other seems more and more to lose out to senseless violence. If we want to stop this development it is therefore really high time to join hands and to take action indeed.
Aim
The Foundation World festival Parade Brunssum 2000 wants to ad to it and takes up the theme "Culture of Peace". In close cooperation's with CIOFF mondial the foundation aims at promoting international cultural relations and that within the framework of world-wide meeting, fraternization and solidarity, respect for each other and each other's cultures.
Furthermore it is tried to give an essential contribution to the forming of opinion, information and development cooperation. Also in commitment with developing countries.
Preservation and restoration of cultural heritage, promotion of the social and cultural development and strengthening of cultural identities and the cultural self-awareness of communities in developing countries are of paramount importance.35 Countries, amongst 20 priority countries, will be present with groups of outstanding level. Brunssum and its surrounding area present itself, in the procession, with music bands.
Organization
The "Parade Brunssum 2000" is one lump of voluntary work and makes the community spirit in Brunssum reign supreme. The festival boards and the effort of hundreds of indispensable volunteers, together with the support of the local authority of Brunssum, the government of the province Limburg and the sponsorclub "Foundation Friends of the Parade" constitute the foundation.
